Job Title: Passenger Car Radial (PCR) Development Engineer

General Summary -

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Develop, specify and facilitate implementation of PCR tire engineering packages to meet requirements of production, product performance and most importantly the requirements of our customers.
2. Participate, advise or lead as needed on product development, process improvement and problem solving teams that are by nature global and multi-disciplinary.
3. Document investigations and plant trials in the form of detailed technical reports, presentations and management updates.

Required Education and/or Experience

1. College Diploma (2-3 year) or University Degree (4-year) in Engineering, Mathematics, Technology, Science or Design - required
2. Minimum of 3-years of relevant experience in tire engineering or in related industry - required
3. Functional knowledge of tire compounding, tire design or manufacturing processes - preferred

Required Skills & Abilities

1. Multi-lingual: English & Mandarin with sound skills in reading, writing & speaking English
2. Good communication and technical documentation skills.
3. Proficiency with design of experiment methods with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
4. Functional understanding of quality systems and concepts
5. Must be detail oriented, self-starting, and must be able to complete projects with minimal supervision.
6. Proficiency with standard PC applications including: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Visio.

Reporting Relationships

1. The PCR Development Engineer reports directly to the Manager, PCR Tire Engineering Group (CTR - Asia Pacific).
2. The PCR Development Engineer is the primary liaison between the Tire Applications Development Groups CTR-US, CTR-Europe and CTR-Asia Pacific.
3. The PCR Development Engineer is the primary liaison between the Tire Applications Development Group (CTR - Asia Pacific) and the Asia-Pacific Production Facilities.

Working Conditions

1. Primary work location will be based out of the Asian Technical Center, located in Shanghai, China.
2. This work is performed in an office environment, but will require working in production, laboratory, and warehouse facilities.
3. Travel is necessary and should be expected, including overnight stays. This includes Cooper-Chengshan (Shandong) Tire Co., Ltd. in Rongcheng, China.
