This role requires leading and managing a team of about 30 Hardware (Digital Design, Power Supply, RF, Audio/ Video) engineers, Mechanical Engineers and PCB designers in Beijing. This individual would report in the World Wide Hardware Platforms Organization and requires a very tight collaboration with their peer managers in Indianapolis and France.



Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for managing the HW platform team based out of Beijing. This team will be responsible for delivering set top box (IP Clients, HD Channel Zappers, DVRs) for key cable, satellite, terrestrial and IP client providers based out of North America, Latin America, and Asia Pacific.

2. Responsible for building and maintain a cohesive team in Beijing that is able to deliver world class products.

3. Responsible for maintaining and enhancing the Beijing team's ability to collaborate and work closely with Indianapolis and Rennes.

4. Interface with program, project and other managers from SW and sourcing organizations during product development and provide leadership and guidance to the HW team.

5. Responsible for building key capabilities such as WiFi and MoCA testing that are used in various products.

Accountabilities:

1. Accountable for delivering Hardware, Mechanical and PCB sub systems for the set top box, gateway products developed by the Beijing team.

2. Accountable for providing timeline and estimates for product development and adhering strictly to the execution schedule and specific costs of development.

3. Accountable for ensuring the lowest total cost for the product is achieved from a design perspective.

4. Accountable for managing an efficient organization in terms of headcount and creating efficiencies by leveraging resources in other design center.

Skill Sets:

1. 10-15 years of progressive experience and strong leadership skills in electo/ mechanical product development under tight deadlines and strict requirements from global customers.

2. Experience in leading and managing large Electrical (RF, Digital , PSU, PCB) and Mechanical engineering teams (30+) that are quite technical in nature.

3. Strong communication skills in Mandarin and English and able to well communicate with senior managers in the organization.

4. Able to build credibility. Collaborative environment and ability to build trust quickly among the Beijing team as well as with peer managers in Europe and US.

5. Familiarity with US and French culture is a plus. Required to travel to Europe and US for design reviews, team meetings etc.

6. Qualifications: Bachelors in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Master preferred. Candidates educated in US or Europe preferred.
