STCA was founded in year 2005 and is now starting the second “Five-Year Plan” after the merge with the Ads Platform Center in 2011. The team has not only built up its strengths and expanded its scope, but also set a shared goal, broadened its vision, and equipped with richer resources that gives the team the confidence to scale new heights.
STCA is now focusing on the following areas: the continuous exploration of Bing search technology; the technical innovation of online advertisement services; the development of the MSN social platform; the development of mobile search applications and Speech technology. Today, STCA has hundreds of excellent employees and is the largest R&D team of the Microsoft Online Service Division outside the United States.

Microsoft is betting a new Natural Language Processing team in Beijing. You will be one of the first pioneers to make your impact, on the quality of our online products like Search, Ads, Bing Dictionary, speech and text understanding platform. We work with Microsoft Research Center closely and keep ourselves on top of the cutting edge technology. You will be not only developing and improving products, but also incorporating proven techniques and inventing new techniques in machine translation, speech recognition, conversation understanding and information retrieval. Your main responsibility will be including but not limited to
- Apply or invent technologies for language expansion.
- Apply or invent technologies for domain scalability.
- Improve and/or implement reliable and scalable training infrastructures for training machine translation models, acoustic models, language models, and dialog models.
We are looking for motivated and energetic engineers and scientists with strong background in one or more of the following areas
- Natural language processing and generation,
- Machine learning (neural network, CRF, SVM, HMM, etc.),
- Conversation Understanding,
- Dialog modeling,
- Domain adaptation,
- Machine translation
Additional qualifications include
- MSc or PhD in CS or EE
- Minimum of 5 year experiences working in the related domain
- Ability to program in scripting, C++ or C# programming language with excellent architecture, design, coding, and debugging skills.
