Primary Purpose of the Position:
-Develop and implement global sourcing strategies for ocean freight transportation (e.g. container shipping, break bulk, etc.) that will provide competitive advantages to the SBU's and the entities represented. Execution of global commodity and supplier strategies utilizing 7 step procurement sourcing process.
-Develop and execute negotiation strategies to provide secure supply lines, contribute towards global financial results, and promote company innovation initiatives.
-Responsible for global supplier performance and improvement, contract management and supplier relationship management.
-Team leader for global internal councils designed to facilitate alternate sourcing, new source development and sourcing/supplier management process enhancements. Provide leadership and support for Supplier Relationship Management allocated to the Regional Commodity/Procurement Managers.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
-Global ocean freight Strategy and Bid Strategy: Develop and implement the commodity bid strategy through analysis of global markets, trends, technology, value chain analysis, costs, SBU needs, long term sourcing plans, etc. to assure that cost, quality, availability, and time to market objectives are met. Develop negotiations plans and lead/coordinate global supplier negotiations (including contract pricing and terms, etc.).
-Work closely with the assigned SBUs to ensure regional input (e.g. requirement, strategy, market intelligence, etc.) ready for both global ocean freight strategy or bid strategy development, and ensure SBUs global ocean freight strategy execution
-Conduct necessary analysis with SBUs to support global ocean freight strategy or bid strategy development.
-Company Financial Results: Contribute to each SBU's EBIT and Cash Flow objectives through negotiations and effective use of global leverage to reduce service costs. Continuously improve the companies working capital position or meet other financial needs as laid out in the annual budget (i.e. AOP).
-Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): Develop world class relationships within supplier organizations through contract and performance management and to align the supplier strategies with the company's focus on total cost of ownership, advantaged supply chain, innovation and continuous process improvement.
-Be the focal point of contact from GY to the assigned carriers on carrier relationship management - i.e. owns quarterly review meeting with selected top carriers, other carrier executive meetings .
-Owns contract negotiation with assigned carriers and be the escalation channel for ultimate issue resolutions if necessary.
-Owns carrier performance.
-Market / Competitive Intelligence: Develop efficient channels for capturing effective market intelligence and benchmark. Leverage this data through should-cost models and other forms of financial or negotiation strategies.
Requirement:
-Bachelor degree (4 year) in Business or Supply Chain Management.
-MBA or MSc in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Finance.
-Minimum 3~5 years commercial experience in Logistics or Transportation. Experience in Ocean Freight container or break bulk shipping will be a plus.
-Purchasing and sourcing fundamentals, commercial contract laws, supplier management, Logistics and Supply Chain processes.
-Skills required: Strong negotiations and/or influencing skills; Good financial analytical and/or problem solving, communications, project management skills, strategic thinking, team player, ability to multi-task and worldwide business acumen.
-Fluent in English and Mandarin.
-Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel.
