Title：Translation Manager（sub：4-5）
Report to：Head of Content China
Location：Beijing

PURPOSE:
? Oversee the development of high-quality English translations for significant existing legal, tax and regulation (LTR) content and the majority of new LTR content for LexisNexis China.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

? Identify the target LTR content to translate by developing an effective selection criteria and process.
? Manage external translation vendors, including translation agencies, freelancers and proof-readers.
? Manage the internal proof-reader and work with other editors to ensure that English language content is at a professional, native-English level.
? Administer translation quality and quantity benchmarks and ensure compliance by all assigned translation resources.
? Explore license opportunities so as to increase English translations on significant scale.
? Conduct quality controls on existing and incoming English translations and ensure the accuracy and completeness.
? Monitor operations of online database and contribute to further enhancements in both contents and features.
? Conduct research on external resources or solution to perfect internal workflow and increase efficiency.
? Monitor competitors and conduct competition comparison report.
? Other projects concerning legal translation as required.

Manage and develop staff

? Translate company goals into goals for portfolio and operational goals for team members
? Ensure that team members are highly motivated and that staff turnover and absenteeism are kept to a minimum.
? Ensure all staff have annual performance objectives and action plans, and are able to meet such objectives and follow such plans
? Carry out annual appraisals and follow-up as per company guidelines.
? Hold regular team briefings with staff to ensure that relevant company information is properly communicated.


KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge:

? University degree
? Legal background preferred

Competencies:
? Excellent Chinese and English skills.
? Able to multitask and manage complex work processes.
? Detail oriented and be able to perform under time pressure.

Experience:
? Above 5 years’ work experiences on translation or English LTR content editing.
