Description

At Seller Services, we build the core platform and services that power Coupang’s marketplace business. Our API’s and tools are used both internally by our retail business and by our external partners to manage and sell their products to millions of Coupang customers. Our services drive competition among sellers to surface the best offers and end-to-end service to our customers, and our seller portal enables thousands of sellers to manage their daily business from product registration, merchandising, order management, customer contact management to settlements and reporting. We leverage advanced technologies such as NoSQL, big data processing systems, MQ, and machine learning to build mission-critical and highly scalable services that are reliable 24/7.
We are looking for a Senior Principal Engineer who will lead our teams in designing and building these systems. You will draw from your extensive technical expertise to establish technical standards and drive the overall technical architecture and engineering practices. You will be working on the hardest problems and building systems and platforms that will help us scale for the future. You will provide overall technical vision when designing and building the software, ensuring the system is evolving in the right long term direction while bringing value to customers.
To succeed in this role, you must be a hands-on yet visionary leader, builder and operator.
In this role you will:
? Serve as the technical lead on our most demanding, cross-functional projects.
? Drive the highest quality of architecture and design of systems.
? Decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions.
? Possess expert knowledge in performance (millisecond latencies), scalability (millions of requests per minute), availability (99.99% uptime), enterprise architecture and engineering best practices.
? Leverage knowledge of internal and industry best practices in design.
? Assist in the career development of others by actively mentoring individuals and the community on advanced technical issues, and helping managers guide the career growth of their team members.
? Exert technical influence over multiple teams, and increase their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
? Bachelor/Master/PhD in Computer Science or related field
? 10+ years of experience in software development in OO language
? 10+ years of experience in leading large-scale projects
? 3+ years of experience in mentoring junior engineers to success
? Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated technical leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
? Experience building and operating extremely high volume and highly scalable web services
? Experience with relational and NoSQL data sources
? Experience with massive data processing techniques (EMR/Hadoop/Spark, Storm/Kinesis, etc.)
? 2+ years of hands-on experience as a Principal-level Engineer
? Desire to guide junior engineers through design and architecture
? Experience building and operating highly available, 24x7 services
? Experience building and operating globally distributed systems
