PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Business Development Manager is a core member of OUP Mainland China Business Development Team. His/her main focus will be the future development of OUP China’s learning centre and franchise business, which is expected to be a new stream of revenue for mainland China in the next 5 years.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/KEY RESULT AREAS
1. Research China’s English language training market, identify potential areas of opportunities for OUP; work with head of BD to set up OUP strategies and priorities to tap into this market.
2.
Based on existing branding value and content, build sustainable business models and tactical plans to kick start an OUP branded English learning franchise in China. Identify and develop partnerships in China market to ensure business success. Lead a division wide effort to turn this into a consistent revenue generator for China.
3. Research to understand overall education market landscape in China. Locate or propose potential business deals in areas other than English language training franchise. Coordinate with product, marketing and sales teams to deliver the right mix of products, services and solutions in a timely manner to ensure the capture of perceived opportunities.

Support or lead other BD projects assigned by Head of BD China.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
? Over 5 years working experience in education, private language training industry, preferably in a mix of sales, marketing and operation positions;
? Understanding and knowledge of Chinese private language training industry, especially on operation and processes; profound existing connections within the industry a big plus.
? Basic experience in project management, and skills in managing internal and external stakeholders.
? Great communicator, both in writing and verbally. Fluent in English.
? Strategic and results-driven, MBA is preferred but not required.
KEY INTERFACES
Internal: Sales, marketing and editorial teams in mainland China; Key product stakeholders in HK and global ELT.
External: Key customers/partners in education, especially the PLS segment (distributors, publisher, online education companies,), occasion dealings with key MOE and related government stakeholders.
