POSITION SUMMARY
Our Client is a USA based group who specializes in sales & marketing of chemical additives.


POSITION DESCRIPTION
Reports to: VP, GM Asia Pacific
Supported by Sales and Marketing Management Client APNMEA, Client’s Technical Center Asia, Microbiology Manager, R&D Manager, S & T Worldwide.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Achievements will be measured against the objectives set for the region, and the budgeting process for the territory:

- Total sales and margin dollars generated in the assigned geographic territory and end – use markets

- Number of new technical approvals generated.

- Quality and adequacy of written reports on customer and distributor contacts and other reporting requirements.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manages sales of Client’s products through most viable distribution channels and by building long term relationships with customers and ensuring smooth delivery of products.
  2. Participates in local and regional exhibitions, local seminars, and other creative individual initiatives in coordination with Marketing and Technical.
  3. Works in close coordination with Management by providing input for future new product development; by providing input in development of marketing supports/tools; by providing technical customer support in liaison with Client’s technical service departments.
  4. Represents Client through local involvement at Strategic International Accounts in liaison with Client’s Key Account Management Team. Ensures regular and accurate reporting of sales by distributors to those key accounts. Ensures reporting of new product approvals, claims, and competitive issues, launch of new products, changes in responsibilities or relocation of company existing contacts.
  5. Drives marketing and Technical efforts toward high value-added products and a clear differentiation from market offerings by taking a commercial approach.
  6. Regular and required appraisals of existing and most suitable distribution channels.
  7. Participates in and serves as active contributor to local and Regional exhibitions, local seminars, and other creative individual initiatives in coordination with Marketing and Technical teams.
  8. Regular meetings with technical and marketing teams to review customer developments and market related issues.
  9. Close coordination with Marketing by providing input for future new product development; by providing input in development of new marketing supports/tools; by providing technical customer support in liaison with Client’s technical service departments, by providing training to distributor sales force and end users on a needed basis.
  10. Medium/long-term project management at key local customer accounts; coordination of trials/testing of samples at Client’s laboratories in coordination with Technical Service Team; introduction, launch, evaluation and selective market testing of new products.
  11. Coherent, regular and systematic visits to target customers in individual countries; and reports communication of status and outcomes to be through regular and timely call reports; actions and follow up.
  12. In close liaison with Logistics to improve and supervise system of forecasting to ensure availability and proper management of stocks in China. Highlights any major changes in off take; review and manage the sale of obsolete stocks. Proposes rationalization program and introduction of new products for stock and production in China.
  13. Customer call reports are reported timely, systematically and distributed and classified as required by company policy.
  14. Reviews accuracy, completeness of Distributor Sales Reports and ensures regular quarterly update. Sets up a proper system to send and receive information from Distributors.
  15. Data base of competitors, product trends, prices and services, contacts, distributors, in a systematic fashion.
  16. Determines and periodically updates market potential, Client’s position, and new approvals and propose actions to correct or improve position through submission of monthly reports.
  17. Researches and reports trends and markets including competitive assessments, new entrants, new technologies, and changes in regulatory environment; and develops new markets in conjunction with Client’s overall objectives.
  18. Mapping of medium and long term business opportunities in China within company’s existing market segment or in new application fields.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate degree in Chemistry/Engineering/Microbiology/or related discipline; MBA desirable.
  • Minimum ten years total sales/sales management experience, including at least five years of Technical Sales within biocides industry, specialty chemicals, adhesives/sealants, coatings, polymer emulsions and additives, cosmetics & personal care, metal working fluids, plastics or allied industry is required.
  • Three to five years sales management experience preferred as part of overall work experience.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills and computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Works under general direction and refers unusual problems to the management for guidance.


WORK REQUIREMENT

  • Car and Air Travel: A large part of the time is expected to be spent on the road and with company’s customers and employees. It is however understood that a minimum of 1 day would be spent at the offices in Shanghai.
