Job title: Animal Welfare Education Officer
Full-time post: 5 days/week
Location: China
Duration of Position: 12 months (with possibility to extend)
Direct report: Animal Welfare Department Manager

1. OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:
1) Animal welfare education development
             To develop and deliver a programme of animal welfare training for participating teachers and zoo educators to increase knowledge of AW concepts;
To develop educational resources in collaboration with teachers and zoo educators to deliver animal welfare concepts in schools and zoos
To develop and maintain an online AW platform for resource access for vet professionals, teachers, zoo professionals and the general public in China
To deliver a programme of animal welfare training for CBRC staff

2) External communication and collaborations
To develop and maintain an educational project partner network at local and national level, with the aim of delivering AW training workshops for teachers and zoo educators.
To provide material support to collaborative parties.

3) Program material development and management
To manage the design and production of AW educational materials.

4) Administration
Reimbursements as necessary

5) Animal welfare department programme support
To support the animal welfare officer (schools & universities) to deliver presentations and organising events in schools and universities.
To support the animal welfare officer (professional development, marketing and fundraising) to deliver public awareness raising and fundraising events.
To support the animal welfare officer (traditional & social media) to deliver public information via established media channels.
To support animal welfare officer’s in maintaining collaborations with Animal protection NGOs and university groups

6) Cross-department communication and collaborations
To support the CBRC education department in the delivery of animal welfare education initiatives.
To oversee the development and design of the animal welfare department display material within the CBRC education center.

2. PERSON SPECIFICATION
1) Qualification/ Education/ Knowledge
Knowledge of animal welfare issues in China （Desirable）
Degree in relevant subject or at least 2 year’s experience of working within an educational role. （ Essential）

2) Experience
Field and desk-based research experience （Desirable）
Excellent project management skills （ Desirable）
Experience of designing and implementing education campaigns （Essential）
Experience of writing project reports （ Desirable）
Experience of working with animal protection organisations in China （Desirable）
Experience of working with various stakeholders relevant to campaign objectives （Essential）
Experience of developing educational resources （Essential）

3) Abilities/ Skills
Fluent in Chinese （Essential）
Excellent oral and written English language （Essential）
Ability to work in partnership with key stakeholders and sustain strategic partnerships （Desirable）
Ability to plan & think strategically - experience of turning strategy into operational plans and effective action （Desirable）
Ability to work in isolation （Essential）
