Senior Manager, Viavi Solutions Finance Global Shared Services Center
The opportunity arises for Viavi Solutions to hire an experienced Shared Services Senior Manager to lead our finance Global Shared Services Center (GSSC) in Shenzhen, China. Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance in North America, this will be an exciting opportunity for the selected candidate to contribute directly to the continual transformation of our global finance organization. The GSSC was created to enable Finance to more efficiently serve the transaction processing and accounting needs of Viavi’s businesses and functions while driving the use of standardized system tools and processes. The GSSC has been established for nearly two years and is completing it’s formative stage of development.
Key Managerial Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background as a manager of a shared services center and the proven ability to employ strategic changes. Due to the GSSC being in the final stages of it’s formative development, this is a unique opportunity for an experienced and dedicated manager to help shape the overall vision, core values, guiding principles, and culture of a large shared service center.
? Leads, directs and manages the activities of the GSSC in Shenzhen, China. The GSSC is comprised of 45 to 50 employees with a wide range of skills and experience.
? Has overall responsibility for ensuring that the organization executes efficiently and effectively.
? Responsible for the final decision of all hiring of personnel within the organization in conjunction with internal process owners who will help define the roles, skills and education required, and other desired qualifications.
? Provides day to day management oversight of the organization and is responsible for ensuring that the team is executing to service level agreements (SLA) that have been agreed to with global process owners (GPOs).
? Responsible for ensuring the organization prepares work product according to company policies, internal control procedures, and requests made by the GPOs. Provide suggestions for improvement back to GPOs as appropriate.
? Responsible for refinement of business processes to strive for improved productivity, accuracy, and reduced cycle times. Work with GPOs to ensure that process improvements and desired changes meet the requirements of the GPOs.
? Manage and influence innovative concepts and promote new ideas within the world-wide accounting organization.
? Continually develop the organization and ensure that it is adaptable and scalable for long-term growth, success and stability. Develop managers and employees for future career opportunities and growth.
? Responsible for in-depth knowledge of the functional areas, strategies for managing a shared service center effectively, and the interdependencies across the businesses and geographies. Regularly interact with senior management, global process owners, peers, and subordinates.
? Work collaboratively with global cross functional team members within finance and accounting, procurement, order management, sales, human resources, and information technology.
? Develop, implement, and drive the employee training and retention programs.
Key Technical Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will have a combination of skills and experience related to the technical skills listed below. The GSSC currently has a team of accounting supervisors with a strong technical background; as such, it is not required for any candidate to be a technical expert in all areas. Note that a candidate with a strong accounting background is highly preferred.
? Responsible for managing the following functions: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Asset Accounting, General Ledger/Intercompany Accounting, and Inventory/Cost Accounting.
? Must collaborate with internal supervisors (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, InterCo, and General Ledger) to ensure all issues are identified and resolved in a timely and complete manner.
? Responsible for ensuring that all applicable subledgers (AP, AR, FA and Inventory) are closed on a monthly basis in the timeline designated by our global close calendar. Note that the close process takes place on the weekend; as such, you must work one weekend a month.
? Must perform the final review key reconciliations and trial balance accounts handled by the GSSC. Must communicate and coordinate with international teams to resolve any large reconciling items.
? Responsible for reviewing month end intercompany transactions to ensure cross company transactions are properly recorded and eliminated. Must coordinate with the local GSSC processors, as well as, the international teams and IT in order to investigate and correct errors.
? Responsible for the final review and approval cash flow forecasts for many divisions around the world. Must also work with the Accounts Payable team to ensure that worldwide bank accounts are properly funded for all liabilities.
? Must provide the final approval for payments and intercompany transfers above a certain threshold.
? Responsible for meeting cash flow target at quarter end based on guidance received from corporate treasury and the CFO relative to GSSC AP and AR activities.
? Responsible for the final review and approval of the supporting documents for all fixed asset transfers and disposals.
? Responsible for overseeing the coordination and completion of the year end fixed asset count for all divisions worldwide.
? Must ensure that all accounting transactions are compliant and accordance with US GAAP.
Pre-Requisites & Qualifications:
? Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related discipline.
? US CPA license, ACCA accreditation or an MBA is a plus.
? Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience with 4+ years managing a large team, preferably in a shared services environment.
? Experience in a large global decentralized company.
? 4+ years of experience managing a large team, preferable in a shared services center.
? Excellent written and spoken English and Mandarin language skills.
? Strong US GAAP accounting skills and knowledge.
? Strong systems knowledge (Oracle is preferred, SAP, Hyperion Essbase, Brio, Agile).
? Strong continuous process improvement skills focusing on automation, standardization.
? Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization.
? Strong collaboration and cross functional influencing skills.
? Must have exceptional leadership abilities and be a strong manager that can execute, motivate employees, and develop direct reports and employees.
? Must be able to work in a high paced team environment.
? Must have a proactive “can do” attitude.
? Must be able to travel to other regions and to the Headquarters in California.
