POSITION PURPOSE
The Marketing Officer is primarily expected to proactively support the marketing Manager in facilitating a positive working relationship within the team, and proactively manage relationships effectively with relevant internal and external stakeholders, and may be required to travel in China.

POSITION CONTEXT
Deakin University China Office has responsibility for leading and driving the achievement of the University’s internationalization objectives in China Market. It does this by working collaboratively with Faculties, Divisions and other areas across the University.
As a member of the Deakin University China team, the Marketing Officer contributes to the University’s goal of internationalisation. This position reports to the Senior Manager and understands educational systems for their specified geographic areas. In addition, the Marketing Officer is expected to assist with the marketing promotion and student recruitment in China Markets
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Facilitate with Marketing Manager to implement marketing strategies, to achieve student recruitment targets to raise the profile of Deakin University within markets of responsibility ensuring compliance with ESOS Act and National Code
2. train and monitor Deakin University agents to ensure that they are able to advise prospective students of the pathways and award courses available offered at Deakin.
3. Work closely with Faculties, DUELI and pathway partners to ensure that Deakin’s international recruitment, marketing, research and partnership development objectives are met and that new opportunities are identified for international diversification and attraction strategies.
4. Representation of the University in student’s recruitment and other promotional and benchmarking activities
5. Provide advice and market information to the university regarding specific market information, opportunities for new partnership development, course advice and changes in student recruitment patterns.
6. Ensure implementation and compliance of all relevant University policies, in particular those relating to equal opportunity, Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S), staff development and staff performance planning and review.


KEY DUTIES
1. Work in consultation with Marketing Managers and Faculty staffs to implement marketing plans for each target market.
2. Provide evidence based advice to the Marketing Manager on market opportunities, course development and issues concerning areas of responsibility.
3. Implement the marketing activities according to the annual schedule of China Marketing promotional recruitment missions.
4. Liaise with the marketing mangers to ensure effective and efficient coverage of major events and campaigns coordination of resources for the University in specific targeted cities.
5. Provide to the Marketing Manager , a detailed itinerary for each campaign and client visit clearly indicating the key actions points throughout the marketing and recruitment cycle and related admissions processes.
6. On conclusion of each campaign and trip, prepare a detailed report, including recommendations and follow-up actions as required
7. Monitor performance of individual agents and make recommendations where appropriate for incentives, the appointment of new agents or discontinuance of agency agreements.
8. Support and work closely the Deakin International Admissions team in the same portfolio to ensure fast turnaround times of applications in order to increase the number of international students accepting their offers to study a Deakin award or ELICOS pathway program
9. Perform any other duties as directed, commensurate with the scope and classification of the position.

SELECTION CRITERIA - ESSENTIAL
Training/Qualifications:
1. A degree with subsequent relevant experience or
2. Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or broad knowledge in administrative field or
3. An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training

Experience:
? Demonstrate experience in marketing education services globally including relevant social media and online campaigns.
? Cross cultural awareness and sensitivity.
? A track record of success in international student recruitment.

Skills/Techniques:
1. Strong customer service orientation and proven experience in relationship management.
2. Proven ability to manage heavy workloads and maintain accuracy in a complex and demanding work environment.
3. Well-developed organisational, planning and problem solving skills including the ability to exercise judgement and initiative in resolving disputes and/or difficult situations.
4. Highly developed interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff at all levels of the organisation.

Other Job Related Information:
1. May be required to undertake frequent travel to participate in marketing activities.
2. Attending work events and flexibility to work after hours during peak periods on occasion may be required.
