STCA was founded in year 2005. In the past 6+ years, the team has not only built up its strengths and expanded its scope, but also set a shared goal, broadened its vision, and equipped with richer resources that gives the team the confidence to scale new heights.

STCA is now focusing on the following areas: the continuous exploration of Bing search technology; the technical innovation of online advertisement services; the development of the MSN social platform; and the development of mobile search applications. Today, STCA has hundreds of excellent employees and is the largest R&D team of the Microsoft Online Service Division outside the United States.

News Team

The STC Asia news team owns one of top 5 verticals in Bing e2e. It’s also the only top vertical outside the United States. Our charter is to make Bing success in freshness segment both in US and internationally. To achieve this goal, we need to be super agile and scalable. We work on a diverse list of deep technical areas, from document understanding, index quality, relevance, fresh signal discovery & triggering, web and social integration. Roles & Responsibilities

As a senior Software Development Engineer / Lead, you will work with PM and Test teams to design, develop, and deliver quality features for Bing. You must feel comfortable operating within a fast moving research and development team. You should have great core development skills: strong passion for delivering quality products, proven track record of working with PM/Test/Research in a product group, great design, coding, and debugging skills, and excellent written and oral communication, as well as demonstrate strong leadership within the team. The ability to handle multiple concurrent releases and demonstrated experience driving for results in a cross-group/ team project is a must. The Senior SDE Lead has the responsibility of building and managing a dev team. This role also involves lots of cross-group collaboration with Bing Search team in Bellevue, Mountain View, and Microsoft Research Asia as well as other MSR locations, drive innovation projects.

Required Qualifications

- You should have 5+ years of strong expertise in search or similar areas; 2+ years of work experience leading a team; an advanced degree in Computer Science or closely related field; and great intuition and ability to “make sense of the numbers.”

- You should be self-motivated and self-directed and able to mentor team members. A demonstrated ability to come up-to-speed quickly on a new technical domain is presumed. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, written communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment are very important. And demonstrated management skills and the better the ability to build up a fast growing team are required.

- Knowledge and experience in any of the following areas is strong plus: C/C++ coding, Multilingual, Internet Search, Information Retrieval, Data Mining, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, strong understanding of the search ecosystem and marketplace along with technology, experience writing code in production systems at large scale.
