POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Blackboard is seeking for an experienced product owner & program manager to facilitate the day to day activities of multiple scrum teams in Product Development Organization which is based in Shanghai. This person is expected to act as the local product owner, working closely with the global product managers and designers to define product backlog and facilitate the local scrum teams in successfully delivery features that align with the business goal. Meanwhile, this person is expected to act as the program manager, getting various information and activities orchestrated cross scrum teams and throughout the organization. This person will also help the scrum teams to get better aligned with the scrum principles and have the process continuously evolve.
The product owner & program manager will play an integral role in the success of the group. Specifically s/he will be responsible to:
? Act as local product owner for scrum teams in Shanghai.
？ Work closely with product managers and designers to understand the business, customer needs and product design, maintain product backlog for the associated scrum teams.
？ Facility requirement discussion and negotiate optimal solutions.
？ Making product design decisions that align with the business direction.
？ Ensuring the communication effectiveness between scrum teams, product managers and designers.
? Work closely with product managers, designers and engineering leaders globally to build product roadmap and follow up on roadmap execution.
? Become a product expert; Propose product design improvements; Help to raise team member's business sense.
? Work with global team on scrum process standardization, coach the scrum team to better adhere to scrum principles and continuously inspect and adapt, to maximize the team's efficiency and quality.
? Generate reports as needed and ensure status are clearly communicated cross scrum teams, and to all stakeholders.
? Work across product manager, product designer, product development team and engineering leadership team, both in US and CN. Ensuring all scrum teams and groups related to product development working cohesively.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
? 5-7 years working experience in software development including building enterprise web application and at least 3 years as product owner / scrum master / project manager / program manager role with agile practice.
? Expert with Agile / scrum practices, able to show in-depth understanding of methodology as well as the ability to solve real world challenging in execution.
? Good mastering of roadmap planning process / agile planning model.
? Strong commercial focus and the ability to prioritize tasks accordingly; good understanding of product design principles.
? An ability to convert business requirements into executable small steps, and prioritize them according to business value and impact.
? Data driven, customer focused, proactive, creative and innovative.
? Solid technical background and good understanding of web application development and the architecture behind.
? Ability to manage projects across multiple departments and stakeholders; Excellent planning and organizational skills required; Strong problem solving skills and cross-group collaboration skills are desired
? Strategic thinker, able to balance long-term vision with short-term and medium-term goals.
? Able to work well independently and within a team; Good communication skills with a "can do" attitude toward problem solving.
? Strong oral and written English.
? Project management certification and / or Scrum certification preferred.
? A minimum of 2 years' experience working with international teams.
? BA/BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.

Previous experience in the education industry and e-learning technologies
