Job Description
Project Manager
Summary of Position
Thinkwell Asia is looking for a project manager to join our Beijing design studio. This position will assist Project Director to lead a large scale theme park development project, managing a multi discipline team locally in Beijing as well as collaborating and coordinating with our design studio in Los Angeles. This position manages the overall project activities on a day-to-day basis. This position is the main point of contact for Thinkwell’s Client and the leadership of the LDI’s (Local Architects). The Project Manager internally reports to Project Director. Working from Thinkwell’s design studio in Beijing, the PM will also guide a project management team responsible for the communication and workflow between the Beijing design studio and the LA design studio. Salary will be paid in China.
Primary Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrated ability to manage a complex multi attraction project.
2. Provide experience and knowledge in the design and delivery of ride and attraction show systems.
3. Provide experience and knowledge in the overall facility design aspects of the theme park project.
4. Collaborates with other management team members, designers, and technical experts who are working on the project.
5. Work with the PM team to continually analyze project budgets for variances, risk and ongoing cash flow updates.
6. On a regular basis, lead the Client, LDI and TWG team meetings.
7. Creates weekly project reports and responds as necessary.
8. Ensures that the project team is maintaining proper documentation and updating records as needed.
9. Identify staffing requirements and work with SKWL Human Resources to engage the required resources to complete the project.
10. Lead the procurement strategies and advise the Client on the best options for the supply of ride and show equipment, in particular procurement within Asia.
11. Work requires a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, and weekends.
12. Assisting Project teams qualify the themed entertainment vendor base in Asia.
13. Works with the finance department to maintain all necessary financial records and presents regular reports to SKWL Executive team.
14. Assisting the Client with executing contract documents for Ride/Show scope.
15. Retains key project records and function as project historian for use in future projects training and audits.
16. Train and mentor more junior project management team members.
17. Onsite required.
Knowledge and Skills:
1. Bi-lingual in English and Mandarin.
2. Must be able to prioritize, meet deadlines, and change course of action quickly.
3. Must be able to interact with all levels of staff.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Analytical, insightful mind, with focus on self and team awareness, pragmatic resolution systemic thinking and fair judgment.
5. Self-disciplined personal management style for effective time, task, prioritization and stress management.
6.Participative management style and use hand on approach to management.
7. Excellent time management skills.
8. Creative problem solving and solid time management skills.
9. Must display good people skills, calm presence, be flexible and a team player.
10. Strong leadership and organizational skills, combined with at least 10 years of hands-on work experience in production development and project execution preferably in the themed entertainment industry.
11. Proficient in MS Project and the ability to create and manage project schedules. Also the ability to teach junior project management team members the nuances of MS.
12. Project software and the logic behind a typical TW project.
Minimum Job Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in architecture is preferred.
2. Working experience from design stage to construction stage is must.
3. At least 10 years' working experience architectural business; experience in related field preferred (i.e. theme park, film, museum, television, theater).
