Sr. Program Manager

Position Overview:
The Lodging Inventory Services team is looking for an experienced and talented Sr. Program Manager to define and drive new features for our award-winning family of interactive travel products.

The Inventory Services team is within the broader Lodging Technology group that drives Expedia’s hotel business. This includes our pricing and availability engine, shopping APIs for all points of sale, supplier connectivity, and supplier facing tools and API’s. The focus of the Inventory Services team is to provide supplier facing services for connectivity and tools. Our services are designed to handle millions of transactions a day and run in a real-time 24x7 environment so robustness, scalability, reliability and high performance are critical. We work behind the scenes to make millions of transactions possible.

This job requires distilling business requirements to determine project scope, translating project objectives into website functionality, driving the project through development and launch, and monitoring the success of the changes post-launch. Passion for technology is critical to a program manager’s success, but here at Expedia we also look for people who are excited about applying that passion to address complex business issues. You must have ability to understand the needs of Expedia as a business, the needs of the customer, the needs of the supplier, the implications on the underlying technology, and be able to translate these needs into new services.

Responsibilities:
? Work closely with business stakeholders to help define product strategy that meets our customers’ needs while satisfying scalability, reliability, performance, and resource costs.
? Take ownership in driving new feature development through every stage of the product lifecycle.
? Gather detailed functional requirements from the business stakeholders, collaborate with software design engineers and software testers to identify feature details and document them in a functional specification.
? Effectively manage trade-offs between cost, schedule, and customer/supplier benefit.
? Engage development, test, and application engineering to deliver features to production and drive problem resolution once the new feature has gone live.
? Measure feature success metrics post ship and feed learning back to the team and the business.

Qualifications:
? 7+ years of program management experience in a professional technology organization (preferably ecommerce).
? Must be a self starter and detail oriented.
? Ability to creatively solve challenging business/technology problems.
? Experience gathering business requirements and turning them into detailed functional design specifications.
? Excellent oral/written communication skills.
? High degree of competency with project management including: project planning, issue and risk identification and management, tracking dependencies and milestones, and communication of overall project status.
? Proven ability to work cross functionally to drive the implementation of new features as well as resolve operational issues.
? Familiarity with web-based product development including software development processes, n-tiered architectures, service oriented architectures, data organization, and performance optimization.
? Familiarity with relational db systems and data mining using SQL.
? Travel industry experience is a plus.
? A BA/BS degree in technical field or related discipline preferred.
? A software related MS or technical MBA is a plus. 举报 分享
