Process Engineers are highly motivated individuals with strong technical background and capabilities to sustain, ramp, and transfer technologies using state of the art equipment and materials in Wet Etch area. They will drive rapid continuous improvements in safety, quality, yield, reliability, cost, process stability/capability, and productivity while maintaining rigorous standards within the Intel factory network. Job duties include sustaining ownership of day-to-day operations, equipment troubleshooting and mentoring technicians across all shifts to deliver best-in-class results for tool availability, cycle time, defects and parametric performance. Hands-on participation with frequent factory floor presence is expected. The job also includes developing solutions to problems utilizing formal education, statistical knowledge, and problem-solving tools as well as developing strategy to prevent the problem from recurring in future. May also require transfer of the process to high volume manufacturing and participation in factory start-up as well as install and qualification of the new production lines. Behavioral traits for this position include strong communication skills, sense of urgency, self-direction, integrity, teamwork, leadership skills, strong problem solving, and attention to detail. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Completing all required safety training and ensure all work is conducted in accordance with Intel F68 safety policies
Managing process performance and facilitating the development of the process owners
Managing process projects rollouts dealing with process improvement activities and providing updates
Identifying gaps in tool matching and partnering with equipment owners to find and resolve root cause
Executing and aligning to the Copy Smart philosophy during and after the transfer process
Identifying all tool differences between new processes and existing base lines and taking appropriate action
Populating the process release document from collected data
Tracking the successes of programs/projects and identifying/addressing gaps in effectiveness
Managing tool qualification with cadence and close the gaps timely
Attending factory meetings to report on tool qualification/project status and following up on the issues
Creating and submitting special work request and change notices to evaluate and implement process changes
Identifying process BKMs and lessons learned and sharing findings with stakeholders
Reviewing Quality events trends and working the events reduction roadmap
Partnering with Production and shift engineering to implement corrective actions for excursions
Partnering with global counterparts to identify and align to best known methods
Setting up contamination, defect, and performance qualification procedures and frequency
Characterizing the process response to parameters
Defining the process margin with respect to upstream and downstream steps
Partnering with PI and other groups to address yield issues
Qualifying conversions and new processes
Improving the process cost of ownership, throughput, and performance
Optimizing existing process and reducing scrap and excursions
Attending daily pass down meetings and communicate current/upcoming tool issues and mitigation plans
Coordinating recipe management, SPC, and process flow setup at home fab prior to transfer
Assuming additional duties and projects as directed by the engineering manager
Maintaining flexibility to be on call to address shift needs
Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge of all wet processes and equipment
Demonstrated advanced understanding of SPC principles
Solid understanding of designing and testing experiments
Basic understanding of probe and parameter functions
Proven ability to communicate and present effectively
Demonstrated strong attention to detail and organizing skills
Advanced PC skills including JMP, Excel, and Power point
Advanced data extraction, analysis, and reporting skills
Proven ability in multi-tasking complex projects
Strong partnering and teamwork skills
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex problems and address root cause
Intermediate understanding of all systems used in the area (Recipe Management, SPC, SWR, Yield, Quality events, PCSA and Klarity)
A strong understanding of semiconductor process flow technology issues, manufacturing science and systems, and engineering applications.
Working knowledge of technical development, as well as demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining successful relationships with partner organizations, internal and external, to drive aggressive roadmaps
Demonstrated passion towards innovation and risk-taking in order to achieve excellence
Experience in transfer, start up, and ramp of a high volume manufacturing facility, preferably running 300mm wafer fab processes.
Demonstrated the capability of working in and leading a high performing team culture which includes: setting high expectations, driving accountability to those expectations, role modeling the desired culture, possess excellent teamwork, demonstrated problem solving and prioritization skills, and driving high performance maintenance goals for the group.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor degree or above in an engineering related field or equivalent experience.
At least 7 years above of semiconductor experience is required.
Previous direct process experience of single wafer wet processing on Lam DV-Prime or TEL Wet Bench tools preferred.
