Scope of Role:
? This role provides advice on AML (anti money laundry ) and sanctions risks related to all Corporate & Institutional Client (CIC) clients in the region subject to Enhanced Due Diligence under the prevailing customer due diligence (CDD) policy and procedure, including PEP (political exposed person) , sanction links entities and others, at customer acceptance and periodic customer review.
Key Responsibilities/Challenges:
? The role holder supports the Financial Crime Compliance management framework in Corporate & Institutional Clients, to be delivered through:
? advice on CDD policy
? advice and escalation of higher risk relationships
? testing compliance with policy in the region
? assessing risks arising from specific clients and managing those risks in the interests of the Bank;
? working with country compliance teams to ensure that the CDD procedures remain up-to-date and in compliance with laws and regulations in relevant countries;
? the training of teams in the CIC business that are responsible for CDD in the first line and establishing a feedback loop to support continuous improvement;
? advising on the Bank’s sanctions risk management framework as it applies to client relationships;
? ongoing testing of compliance with the CDD procedures.
? Leadership and management
? Supports efforts to position the Bank as an industry leader in the eyes of regulators and industry stakeholders.
? Works with country and Group resources to deliver advisory and testing objectives, including ‘virtual team’ members within the region.
? Knowledge development and information management
? Offers subject matter expertise, drawing on FCC networks, professional qualifications and experience.
? Ensures effective escalation within the Bank.
? Partnership
? CIC Legal and Compliance network
? Financial Crime Compliance network and Operations
? Regional CIC Management
? CIC Audit
? Regulators
? Peers in other banks.
? The Regional AML Advisor will have the authority under Group procedures to instruct the business / functions to take action, including in relation to:
? The approval of a new client relationship;
? Additional risk mitigants;
? Enhancements required in first line controls;
? The review of an existing client relationship;
? Rectification.
Selection Criteria:
? The Regional AML Advisor ideally has experience in one or more of:
? AML advisory,
? AML surveillance,
? Enhanced due diligence services gained in a bank, leading regulator or a professional services firm.
Relevant skill sets include:
? Specialist Financial Crime Compliance Management
? Identifies risk areas and develops solutions in specific area of FCC responsibility.
? Effectively implements and controls defined aspects of FCC processes and procedures.
? Offers subject matter expertise, drawing on FCC networks, professional qualifications and experience.
? Offers new ideas to improve procedures.
? Recognised as a potential ‘subject matter expert’ through networking, professional qualification and experience.
? Financial Crime Compliance Governance and Assurance
? Tests FCC Compliance.
? Informs and escalates issues as necessary.
? Identifies where local law and regulation require dispensation from FCC procedures.
? Influences peers to improve, leading by example.
? Produces concise assessments of FCC Compliance.
? Promotes awareness of Financial Crime Compliance and Prevention
? Prepares draft awareness initiatives.
? Provides examples of failure and lessons learned.
? Provides examples for awareness presentations.
? Produces new initiatives to raise awareness of FCC.
? Informs FCC managers of lessons learned.
? Drafts lessons learned papers.
? Provides awareness presentations.
? Continuous Improvement
? Identifies process improvements in FCC processes
? Early warning signs identified as opportunities for process improvements.
? Improves “end to end” process through consideration of adjacent processes.
? Work Management
? Prioritises and schedules own work to meet the peaks and troughs in business demand.
? Communicates own work plan issues and escalates potential “bottle-necks” to their manager.
? Provides team leader with potential solutions to capacity constraints.
? Supports team members to manage their workload
