职位描述
POSITION: Safety Manager
REPORTING TO: Senior Safety Manager/Project Manager
RESPONSIBILITY: To manage and direct project personnel to achieve defined project safety objectives in a way that fosters repeat business with each client and builds/maintains positive relationships with contractors.
AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
1. Managing on-site activities in a pro-active and consultative manner to minimise the number of lost time days.
2. Proactively managing the project safety management system in accordance with the requirements of the Project Safety Management Plan (PSMP).
3. Maintaining a clean and safe work site including conducting inductions, safety walks, safety meetings and setting up safety committee meetings and performing internal site safety audits.
4. Inspecting on-site works on a regular basis to ensure that safe work procedures are adhered to and assisting supervisory personnel in the development of solutions to daily site inspection requirements.
5. Informing the Senior Safety Manager/Project Manager of any concerns in respect to implementation of OH&S practices, or on all significant matters relating to or arising from the duties and functions under your control.
6. Planning and prioritising all work to anticipate backlogs, and preparing any necessary work flow schedules and monitoring same to enable meeting of reporting deadlines.
7. Performing each task from inception to conclusion to the highest possible standards.
8. Ensuring that you maintain the name and goodwill of the company.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Tertiary or trade qualified with, at least, one relevant OH&S qualification/certification.
EXPERIENCE:
Extensive hands-on experience in an OH&S role that involved interacting with safety reps is essential. Also essential is experience in development of policies and codes, involvement in preparation of Work Method Statements and Safety Procedures, and possessing a detailed understanding of Codes of Practice. Involvement in industry Safety Committees, and organising training of workers and staff is highly desirable.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
1. Computer literate with a sound working knowledge of word-processing and spreadsheet packages.
2. Ability to work in English and possess excellent written and oral English.
3. Easily adaptable to a changing and challenging working environment and the ability to work well under pressure, including long hours and six-day weeks.
4. Hands-on team player.
5. Possessing strong interpersonal and personal skills including:
? An ability to manage conflict
? Superior negotiating skills
? Excellent oral and written communication skills
? Ability to work and deal with people at different levels
? A sense of urgency
? Being highly organised, self-motivated and with initiative
