POSITION: Environmental Manager

REPORTING TO: Project HSE Director

RESPONSIBILITY: To be the voice of the Customer in all Environmental matters


AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

1. To be the voice of the Customer in all Environmental matters
2. Environmental Advisory and auditing role as part of the Client Project Team
3. Development & maintenance of the EMP’s associated with all aspects of construction
4. Conduct environmental conditions audits on a weekly basis
5. Daily site inspections for environmental systems compliance
6. Liaise with relevant authorities on behalf of the client as required
7. Participate in incident investigations/ root cause analysis/ reports
8. Participate in environmental emergency response efforts
9. Informing the Project HSE Director of any concerns in respect to implementation of environmental plans, or on all significant matters relating to or arising from the duties and functions under your control.
10. Planning and prioritising all work to anticipate backlogs, and preparing any necessary work flow schedules and monitoring same to enable meeting of reporting deadlines.
11. Performing each task from inception to conclusion to the highest possible standards.
12. Ensuring that you maintain the name and goodwill of the company.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor Degree in Environmental Engineering or relevant subject.

EXPERIENCE:
5 to 8 years experience in a HSE role that involved works on site is essential.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
1. Good computer skills in Microsoft Office, Powerpoint, etc.
2. Ability to work in English and possess excellent written and oral English.
3. Easily adaptable to a changing and challenging working environment and the ability to work well under pressure, including long hours and six-day weeks.
4. Hands-on team player.
5. Possessing strong interpersonal and personal skills including:
? An ability to manage conflict
? Superior negotiating skills
? Excellent oral and written communication skills
? Ability to work and deal with people at different levels
? A sense of urgency
? Being highly organized, self-motivated and with initiative
