Principal Responsibilities: 

  

• Manage outsourcing of research, nonclinical and preclinical safety studies (GLP and non-GLP) for inclusion in safety assessments and regulatory submissions, including chemical characterization, analytical, toxicology, in vitro, in vivo and product safety testing, including proper protocol selection and design, test coordination, quality control, and maintenance of test reports and study files in compliance with internal and external standards.   

• Manage communications with CROs and laboratories related to scheduling, test article shipment and traceability, project scope, protocol approval, study updates, data documents, amendments, deviations, preliminary and final report review.  

• Manage supplier compliance to applicable standards such as GLP and Quality Management Systems (QMS) necessary for the Supplier Management Program.  Coordinate and oversee quality system, technical, and laboratory facility compliance audits, as needed, to ensure the validity and reproducibility of all safety studies.  

• Participate in the selection of CROs and laboratories including qualification/scientific assessments and tracking supplier performance. Manage key contact relationships with strategic testing suppliers such that K-C is viewed as a highly valued and indispensable business partner.

• Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in the technical and scientific aspects of the design and execution of dermatological in vitro and in vivo safety studies that are fundamental to K-C’s product safety assurance program and regulatory compliance. 

• Establish and maintain an information network for the purposes of monitoring for the emergence of changing practices, regulations and standards for safety testing approaches applicable to K-C products. Communicate best practices, emerging methodology, newly validated methods, and changing requirements to community of safety assessors and compliance specialists. 

• Conduct her or himself in accordance with expected Kimberly-Clark leadership behaviors and corporate policies and procedures with an expectation to maintain and enhance their technical, professional, leadership and communication skills through professional development and participation in scientific conferences and meetings, publication of appropriate work in peer-reviewed journals and other aspects of technical and leadership development.  

Basic Qualifications:   

• Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience, or Masters or other advanced degree with some relevant experience preferred , Degree in biology, chemistry, toxicology, pharmacology or a related life sciences field of study with prior relevant 

• Proficient in the design and coordination of in vitro, in vivo, regulatory toxicological, analytical, chemical and material characterization and other types of product safety-related studies following ISO 10993, OECD, ICH and global regulatory guidelines to identify potential hazards, estimation of risk or confirmation of safety of medical device, consumer, cosmetic, personal protective equipment, over-the-counter drugs, and therapeutic products.    
• Strong knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) approaches to data and study management of toxicology and pre-clinical safety studies.   
• Strong project management skills and ability to independently prioritize work activities. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and independently manage multiple projects in a cross-functional corporate setting and the ability to effectively communicate in written or oral presentation formats.   
• Ability to establish and maintain good customer rapport while driving solutions to meet business needs and the ability to identify and escalate as appropriate potential problems or issues.   
• Strong IT literacy and demonstrated proficiency in working within database environments. Proficient using Microsoft programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, etc.). 
• Ability to communicate fluently (speak, read, write) in English.
